Eight years since he had met her and seven since he had fallen in love with her. Or so he thought. He was not so sure if this was love or if it was just another mere crush. After all his first love, Tsukami Miyuki who was now a doctor working in the hospital, had rejected him. And soon such feelings came to vanish over time. Time mended wounds after all. Although as young kid he had been foolish into thinking that that heaven had chosen for them merely because of their horoscopes. It was nothing more than a mere heartbreaking coincidence. He had learned from that, love was not an easy thing to grasp. It takes time to nurture after all. And after his first rejection...he had became slightly scared of confessing. He did not like rejections since really who did? Either way, Chronos stared at the girl who was sitting with him at lunch. Due to the fact that the high school now have ranks, they were no longer in the same class. Something that honestly disappointed him but he kept quiet about it. He was alright, he can handle being by himself after all. He was no longer the needy clingy boy that he once was. He was also not as argumentative and learned that it was best to merely keep quiet. "Corny." Clear spoke looking down as if slightly embarrassed about something. All the male could do was stare at her. The way she won't look at him in the eyes, how she played with her food. How she called her name but yet there was slight hesitation. Was this finally the day? "I have something to tell you." she continued still looking rather nervous. He gave her a nod as he ate his food telling himself to calm down. Such movement, it was obviously a confession but he can't act like he knew right? So he kept quiet and merely ate his food despite the fact that his hand was slightly shaking from the tension. "Since we promise there is no secrets between us right?" again the girl continued not making this any easier for him. She always was a troublesome girl wasn't she? At times he wonder how he could have...feelings, where it is love or just a mere crush, on her. "Yes I remember making such promises. Is there something you would like to share with me?" "Yeah. So like...today..." she started taking a sip of her water. "Yes?" Was today the day she realized it? That...she might have feelings for him as well? "Well after you dropped me off in my homeroom." Did she wish he had stayed longer? He suppose he could always make some more time for her. Since really his time was divided into studying, being part of the disciplinary committee [something he had joined since the first day of school as it was one step closer to obtaining his dream of being a police] and of course Clear. He didn't exactly have any other friends. Sure maybe a few classmates who would talk to him or study with him but certainly not friends. He was not a very sociable person but at least it was better than when he was a kid who made enemies with just about everyone. "I joined the hostess club." Huh? He stared at her. That....that was seriously it? She joined the hostess club? All of this pauses and tension and it was just for that. Chronos had dropped his spoon even but ignored the metalic clank being more focused on the girl in front of him. "Wait...the hostess club?" Wasn't that for entertaining men? So that meant...that...if she had gotten invited or somehow passed that only meant. He can feel the horror of the thought. A good amount of guys in the school must want her. "And...may I ask what prompted you to join this club?" he asked trying his best to keep his cool. "Oh because I want to make people happy? Why else?" That was it? Well while she is making other people happy, she certainly was not making him happy. "I see. How very generous of you." he stated his voice staying calm and collected. Would someone steal her away from him? "But you know Clear. Maybe you shouldn't join that club." he told her. "Huh? Why not?" the girl asked giving him a rather inquisitive look. "Because..." he started drawing out the word in an attempt to stall himself for time. Yet he could not think of any reason. The hostess club would be a good club for her, she was friendly after all but that didn't mean he wanted her in that club. No, why couldn't she join the disciplinary club with him instead? Oh yeah...she probably wouldn't like to file. "No one would want to be your client." the words slipped out and instantly he regretted it when he saw that look of anger on her face. Clear stood up with a small pout. Even as a teenager she was still so much of a child in his eyes. "PEOPLE WANT TO BE MY CLIENT" she cried out attracting attention to the two. All the boy could do was sigh as she stomped off. He should had came up with a different reason. He had figured that she would be okay after a few minutes but she never came back to his table at lunch. Instead she had went off somewhere, he assumed it was the hostess club. Even in between periods where she would come into his class to visit him, she did not no matter how long he waited. She still wasn't mad was she? It was just one comment. Yet it bothered him. He couldn't even focus in class to the point where when a teacher called on him to read, he made a fool out of himself reading the wrong textbook. After school, Chronos was walking around delivering papers. Today was a peaceful day really or maybe he just didn't notice anything. As well, he did walk into a couple of walls deep in his thought of wondering how she was doing right now. Would she even see him? Did she get a lot of clients. Would she still spend time with him? Once he was done he found his legs leading him to the hostess club but he didn't dare walk in yet. He was scared of opening the door and seeing her surrounded by men. Men that were much stronger and what her father would describe to be manly unlike him who was slightly, just slightly, feminine. He shook his head, no, Clear would not abandon him for such thing. As a kid he made her promise to stay with him forever after all. And so he opened the door. Instantly he was greeted by a hostess but was quick to ignore her looking for chocolate eyed friend. It did not take him long to see her sitting alone with no one at all. How long has she been alone like that? The male without a word walked over to her ignoring the other hostesses he passed by. "Clear." he called out to her and she looked up at him at first looking excited before pouting once again. "Oh its you." "Yeah. Anyway so...did you get a client yet?" he asked her. He took the silence as a no. "You know, the hostess club is about to close now. Maybe you should leave early." he suggested. After all, he doubt that face she was making would attract anyone which in his opinion was for the better. "No. I'm not leaving until I get a client. After all I'm willing to bet I can get one. I can be a good hostess. I can make people happy." she told him defiantly. Chronos stared at her before sighing and then taking a seat next to her on the sofa. "Will....will you host me?" he asked her looking away slightly embarrassed about this. Clear had stared at him for a moment looking amazed before nodding. She went back to her usual self and the two talked about school. How she already made quite a bit of friends and even kept some back in middle school. She asked him about him and he said that he was alright as well. And really, just talking to her did make him feel better. After the end of their session he helped her along with the other hostesses close up. "Hey Clear." "Yeah Corny?" "You...you're a really good hostess." he stated. Too good for his liking. "Thank you so much Corny!" she cried out hugging him making his cheeks feel hot. It did not last long though as she quickly backed away. "I mean...I told you I was. But you know Corny you make a good client too. So make sure you visit me okay? I mean, if you're not busy." "Of course I will! You know...if I have time." With that Chronos became Clear's first client and in his mind, he would like to bet that he was her favorite as well even if he would never voice such things out loud. And maybe...just maybe, she was his love.
