this is inspired by someone saying that raiden needed a badass lady and then he wouldn't be a single pringle-

After all he was a man, and a manly one at that. He'd never had a need to express any kind of feelings for anyone at all, because it was a weak thing. However there was always one point in his life where he could tell where he'd first fallen in love and who it was with, and how that one girl had left an imprint on him.
He didn't even know she was a girl at first, never knowing until the day he'd decided to swing round to Eli's after their first day back to school (her first for a fact. He only knew because he'd left before he'd managed to introduce her to all the cool things that Eli and he did at school, sitting on the rooftop being the main.) He couldn't help but get one of the biggest shocks of his life to find the elder of the two cussing her out for wearing somethings 'as girly' as a dress to school when she was clearly a boy. And whilst the redhead accepted it, Eli clearly slipped into denial about the whole situation. However it didn't bother Raiden, Kita made it very clear what she would do when he tried to treat her like every other girl.
And it wasn't until a year after the revelation that he realized that he loved her for it. Unlike his younger counterpart, Raiden had respect for how she acted, hell! Who wouldn't love a chick who could kick the crap out of any guy she wanted. It was sexy ... he found the confidence that she had undeniably attractive and he couldn't understand why any guy wouldn't want her!
Just not him ... he knew he couldn't. She was a bro, a amigo, one of the three musketeers. She knew everything about him and he knew everything about her but he wasn't going to risk it. He'd heard stories about that 'we can still be friends' crap and he wasn't going to fall for it. They'd been together from the beginning and he was damn well sure they were going to go out in a blaze of fire at the end. Their friendship was something he cherished and it wasn't going to mess it up.
He couldn't help but feel like he was the one that constantly let them down. He didn't have to see it in their eyes but he could tell the two of them were hoping that he would slip back into his old ways when he went to university. Honestly he was as well, to snap out of this trance the shooting had put him into, to be able to turn back round to Eli and tell him he'd changed his mind. That he wouldn't mind being in his gang, even if it was too late to recover the position that had been offered to him previously. But he never did, he bit his tongue and finished his law degree, his career path set in stone now. She congratulated him but he could see in her eyes the disappointment in her decision. No, he knew disappointment would be the wrong word for it, she'd never be disappointed in him. She'd respect his decision no matter what he made, they'd always be friends.
It was that evening that he'd expressed his desire to be more, capturing her lips in a sweet kiss before the evening, one that was still imprinted into his memory to this very day. She was like a drug and he'd got addicted. He needed her and she needed him, so they agreed to try it, to test to see if it could work.
But the redhead knew the only way to get away from an addiction was to rip himself from it. The complications of their relationship stood out clear enough to see. A yakuza right hand and a police officer, and Raiden realised they never thought it could work. It was one thing to arrest a bro for a crime, to keep with a manly understanding but his girlfriend? So he broke it off, avoiding her until he got over her or at least could pretend that he had. They both knew it, but neither of them would admit it to the other ... it was just failed to be from the beginning.
But the redhaired man couldn't escape it.
He craved to be near her again, to not have the barrier of occupation dividing them. He missed the fact that she played with her hair when she got frustrated with something. He missed it when she used to blush when he brought her flowers, making out she didn't like them and she wasn't girly enough for them, but still had them when he came round a week later in a vase on the window ledge. He missed that she was the only one that could make him watch stupid romance films when she laid curled up next to him on his couch, whilst he complained about them all. He missed the times when people came round and the channel was quickly switched over to some kind of monster truck rally, and no one could understand why the pair of them were in stitches (especially one very confused Eli, who left the moment he came after announcing they were 'fucking weirdos'). He missed that he no longer had the only person he could talk to about the future and it didn't seem weird or like they were rushing into things, it was just talking. He missed the fact that she could cope with his crazy siblings and all their probing questions and poking fun when they came over to dinner when she was over.
But all that was done, it only took five months before it ended. Any news of it reigniting was shattered by the news she presented. She was getting married. The majority of the people in the living room of the Ramsey household ran over to her, gushing their congratulations but her eyes were trained on him. Raiden allowed his own congratulations fall from his lips, a smile that felt fake fell onto his face to stop himself from looking like he'd been punched in the gut. She'd asked him some question to which he'd instinctively replied yes. It was her after all ... she held his heart in the palm of her hand and she didn't even realise it. The redhead quickly announced he was going outside for a smoke, ignoring the protest of the yakuza leader that it was fine to have one in there and making his way outside only to be stopped by Yanmei grabbing his hand. The woman gave it a firm yet reassuring squeeze as he dragged her outside with him, knowing that she had something to say to him.
"It could be worse"
The redhead scoffed at the woman sitting next to him on the cold porch. "I don't see how" Raiden replied as he took a drag of his cigarette, the woman frowning at him from behind. "Get a grip Raiden, she's a chick" Yanmei snapped as the man smirked back at her, before getting up off the porch, cigarette in mouth and walking down the drive.
"Nah, she was the chick. Besides, I've just been taken for too long, I just need to get back into it." the man replied, unlocking the door to his car as the candyfloss haired woman finally smiled at him. "Well for your sake you better do it soon" was all he heard her say as he got into the front seat of his car, out of her eye view. Instantly his head fell against the head rest, sighing deeply letting the nicotine rush round his system.
He hoped so too. [/style] |

Of course he hadn't been, anyway he didn't see why it was that important that he went anyway. Two years had passed, and he'd had flings but he was still stuck on that chapter of his life. He'd moved up to the rank of sergeant, something which everyone was surprised he had managed to do by the age of 28, but after her he had just thrown himself into his work. To his surprise he was pretty sure Lucien had even smiled at the news which had just creeped him out. However he was happy with his position in the force and everything else was going good.
His thin fingers losely tied the knot of his tie as he glanced in the mirror, reaching up to secure his hair with the black band he used daily for it, pulling down at his waist coat. He had the feeling that the choice of colour was going to make him stand out but there was no way he would ever be wearing blue. Brown eyes glanced over at the clock on the side before sighing. He had an hour and a half to get there and the only thing he could think about was getting there and getting it over and done with. The eldest Sanada grabbed the jacket on the side, looking at himself in the mirror one last time before leaving. He didn't know why he was feeling so anxious, it wasn't like he was the one getting married.
_____________
He'd slipped into the back room of the church the moment he'd got there, weaving through the crowds of bustling women who were trying to get their final touches done. In the end he'd found his way into the backroom where they were hiding her away. "You look beautiful" the redhead muttered, watching her jump in shock with a grin on his face. Quickly Kita turned round and scowled at him, lightly punching him in the chest as Raiden smiled. She did look beautiful, too bad such beauty wasn't intended for him.
"You startled me" the woman muttered, her eyes scanning up and down his body, before scowling more. "The red I can excuse but if you are coming to my wedding then at least dress properly" she continued, yanking on the black tie, snapping the redheads neck downward as she finished doing the rest of his buttons up on his shirt. Raiden groaned, he bet nobody else was getting this kind of treatment. It wasn't like he was the one getting married. Yeah ...
"Any regrets?" the redhead asked before he could stop himself, watching Kita's reaction reluctantly. Her shocked expression stayed only for a moment, as he felt his hands leave his sides and cup her face, his thumb tracing a circle on one of her cheeks. She didn't react but she didn't flinch which he supposed was a positive reaction.
"Raiden ..."
"I'll stop if you tell me you feel nothing for me anymore" Raiden replied as a look of pure fury crossed the woman's features, her fist hitting him in the stomach so hard the man staggered back slightly. His hand came to rest across his stomach before he frowned as well. "What the fuck was that fo-?"
"It's MY WEDDING DAY Raiden!" the woman shouted back, as the man's face became emotionless. She was right, he shouldn't be doing this ... why did he do this? She didn't deserve this ... but Kita wasn't finished yet. "And unless your stupid brain has forgotten, you BROKE UP with ME. Not the other way round!" the woman continued, her face going red with rage, as Raiden got wound up.
"SO THIS IS MY FAULT BECAUSE WE STUPIDLY THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO WORK? I DID IT BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT THING, NOT BECAUSE I WANTED TO!" the redhead shouted back, as the bride to be looked at the floor, almost in defeat. "But I never stopped loving you" the man admitted, watching Kita's head snap up in confusion. He couldn't help but feel terrible at the timing of his confession. Slowly the Sanada took a step forward, a serious expression on his face. "If you tell me you don't love me, then I'll walk out and we can forget this ever happened. Just tell me you'd rather have him waiting for you at the end of the isle and not me"
"Why did you have to do this now?" Kita asked, Raiden looking away when he heard that her breath was wracked with sobs. He didn't want to make her cry. "I can't do this Raiden-"
His hands returned to her cheeks, his thumbs brushing under her eyes, wiping away the stay tears that fell from her eyes. Clear blue eyes looked up at his maroon ones, as his lips brushed against hers before pulling away quickly. He knew he shouldn't have done that, but for one moment he felt like he could be the man she loved, the man she would spend the rest of her life with. "I'm sorry, I'll leave now" Raiden muttered as he left the room, hearing something small in reply, walking down to take his seat in the pews, a serious expression painted on his face.
After ten minutes he was getting worried. She still hadn't come out he was getting worried, there was clearly something going on at the back that he didn't know about. After fifteen though, a bridesmaid rushed down the aisle and handed something to the eagerly awaiting groom, who's face fell the moment he read it. Raiden glanced at the man curiously, watching him for a few minutes until he cleared his throat.
"Erm- Ladies and Gentlemen, whilst it is lovely seeing you all today, I'm afraid there isn't going to be a wedding. Since well ... I'm now missing a bride..."
The police officers heart sank to his stomach as he quickly raced to being outside, pulling his cell phone out of his pocket and pressing it to his ear. The caller picked up almost instantly.
"Kita where are you?!" came the quick question, his voice almost frantic. What if something had happened to her, or she was going to do something stupid?
"R-raiden? I couldn't do it"
"Yeah, I guessed that, where are you?" "At home picking up my suitcase. Raiden I'm going to go awa-"
"No Kita, get back here now. What are you doing?" the redhead asked, the disapproval of his voice coming across in his tone as the woman on the other end of the phone laughed.
"No you were right! I couldn't do it. Raiden ... I'm not sure when I'm going to be back so do me one thing ... please?"
"Anything" the redhead muttered, something which he was pretty sure made the woman smile down the phone.
"Wait for me? Because I love you. I realise that now ... and I know it won't be easy but please, just wait for me!"
It was those few words that caused a smile to sink onto the redheads face, his head tilting up towards the sky, feeling like luck was finally smiling on him for once. "Of course"
"... Thank you. You were right, I love you. I just couldn't, it wasn't right not when I couldn't-"
"Kita"
"What?"
"I love you too" [/style] |
