The darkness prevailed again when the door was shut. Shoes hit the floor in two thuds and they were ripped off the owner's feet in a lazy but frustrated manner. Footsteps created soft creaks in the wood stairs that were being climbed in darkness. The socked feet made it to the second story. Toes pointing to the right first and taking a step but instead, they back-stepped and turned going to the left of the stairs. As the feet crept along, sliding almost on tipped toes a light suddenly shined in the hallway and the feet stopped. "You're late again." A female voice replied. The sock covered feet turned and toes curled before making themselves comfortably flat on the floor again. "I wasn't doing anything bad, honest!" A male voice shouted. Suddenly there was a cry from the other room, a wailing that both pairs of feet reacted to by traveling to the source of the crying. "Harumi, don't cry! It's just Daddy!" The lights flipped on after the door was opened and Koichi Tachibana was the first to arrive on the scene. He went to the crib and hung over the side, staring at the baby as she wiggled about and cried. "Fuyumi, what does it say? She looks really upset!" Koichi looked back to his wife and the dark haired woman had gotten a book and was thumbing through it quickly. "Pick her up, holding her to your chest making sure to- Koichi!" Fuyumi blasted his ears as he held his daughter up horizontally by her sides. Letting the baby hover in the air in his hands, he stared at his wife with wide eyes. "D-Do I drop her and try again? What's it say?" He said standing completely still as the baby seemed amused and content, wiggling around like she was. "Stay just like that." His wife ordered and sweat began to poor down his face as tried to hold his odd position with the baby in his hands. His knees were bent and starting to shake as Harumi gurgled at him. "I think she's choking or..." Koichi offered and suddenly a long spill of drool from her mouth began to puddle onto the crib sheets. Another noise came from Harumi and this left an aroma in the air that left both new parents disgusted. "I... Fuyumi, are you punishing me? Read faster!" He shot at his wife and the baby began crying again. "Just give her to me. You're incapable. Have you not read this book?" She said taking Harumi from his hands and into her arms. She wiped left over drool and began to bounce the baby in her arms as she walked in around the room in an effort to soothe her. Koichi sighed to himself and followed Fuyumi around the room as the baby was hoisted to her mother's shoulder. "She's getting heavier lately." "She's eating properly." Koichi said as he waved at his daughter and made faces to amuse her. "I even had to give up that perfect chest in order for that to happen." He whined and grabbed his wife by the waist. "If I don't walk her around, she won't fall back to sleep." Fuyumi said, staring ahead while still patting their child's back. "Right!" Koichi said as if he had been told that before and released her. "Should I... Should I be doing anything then?" He walked to the doorway and looked over his shoulder at his wife. "No, I'll take care of her. Go get changed for bed." Fuyumi told him with a huff. "Yes m'aam." He saluted and walked out. After countless footsteps and some time later, Koichi returned to Harumi's bedroom with pajama pants and a t-shirt on. "Can I hold her now?" He said with his hands outstretched to the two females. He wiggled his fingers and Fuyumi stopped to stare at him. Harumi as well, while sucking on her thumb. He continued to smile and wiggle his outstretched fingers until Fuyumi walked toward him and handed the baby over. "Daddy's little girl who looks just like Mommy." Koichi sang as he rocked her in his arms. "It's half the reason Daddy loves you." "I wish you wouldn't talk to her like that. She may develop a habit of speaking in the third person." Fuyumi frowned. "But..." She paused. "What's the other half?" "The other half?" He blinked at Fuyumi while raising Harumi up in the air so she could 'fly'. "You just said-" Fuyumi said, crossing her arms. "Oh, because she's half me." Koichi grinned and brought her back down into his arms. "What an arrogant way to look at things." Fuyumi said, the displeasure with his answer written all over her face. "Ah, c'mon!" Koichi said to his wife as he pretended that the fingers of one hand was a spider that crawled all of his child in an effort to tickle her. "She's hogged your tits for weeks now. She's definitely me." He chuckled as the baby gurgled and laughed. "I wouldn't have given Mommy's boobies away to anyone less worthy." He said triumphantly making her fly again in the air. "Your fascination with my chest is unnerving." Fuyumi told her husband as an eyebrow twitched. "That's enough play. Let's put her to bed." She said as she walked to Koichi, taking the baby and moved back to the crib. "You go to sleep now." Fuyumi said in a soft but stern voice as she covered the child with a pink blanket. "Daddy's going to sleep but not before playing with Mommy." Koichi said as he turned off the light. "Harumi, don't listen to him. He never knows what he's talking about." Fuyumi turned to stare at the child and as if she understood, closed her eyes. The light disappeared from the upstairs but then reappeared as the two parents got ready for their own sleep habits. "My own bed." Koichi said jumping into it as his wife walked around to her side. She sensibly pulled the covers back and after sitting down, slid her feet under. Her head turned and she watched her husband kicking his way under the comforter and sheets like a child. "Hah..." Fuyumi sighed to herself as she slid further downward into the bed and reached for the light. There was a tug at her waist after she turned on her side. "What is it?" She said as she felt her husband awfully close to her. "I missed you." He whispered as she felt him nuzzle into her neck. "You know I can't sleep this way." She told him flatly. "Just for a few minutes." He yawned and she sighed again as his exposed arm flopped onto and wrapped around her waist. He taken off his t-shirt at some point. He'd always slept like that since she could remember. The likelihood of his catching a cold was always high. Her eyes blinked and sure enough, his arm slid off and away from her as he laid on his back. "Did you eat dinner?" The thought came to her and her head turned as she asked him. "Nope." He said, as yawned again and Fuyumi watched him adjusting himself at his pants. "Why is it necessary for you to do that in front of me?" Fuyumi groaned and turned back on her side. "I'm not doing it in front of you. I'm behind you." Koichi whined lazily. "Semantics." Fuyumi offered with a huff. "I'm making myself comfortable." He offered her. "I don't use it much now anyway." He sounded pitiful as he muttered that. "I may want another child." Fuyumi said quietly and then a silence fell between them. Quickly, the comforter and sheets were kicked off and the dark haired woman was pulled over to the left of the bed. Her husband turned her, staring into her eyes as they both laid on their sides. "Not now!" She said, hitting him on the top of the head with a hard cover book that she had conveniently placed beneath her pillow for such things. "I'm not ready for another one yet." Fuyumi pouted and her husband sighed. She turned over onto her back and so did he. Staring at the ceiling for a few moments, Fuyumi reached for the light again, determined this time to turn it off with interruption. With the light now off, they laid together on their backs in silence. Koichi sighed to himself and as he made a move to roll his body over, he felt his wife's hand on his forearm. His arm was pulled and then held, squeezed even in a hug. "There's nothing wrong with a bit of practice before then." [/style] |
