Koichi Tachibana's green eyes blinked as he quietly rode in the passenger seat of his father's silver Toyota. Despite being a rich bastard, he'd still had the same car that he had bought just shortly after his second child was born. Jiro Tachibana was just that uncool.
"She must be special." The older man remarked to the younger, trying to make conversation with his son. "I knew it was love when I first saw your mother in that arcade." Jiro grinned as his eyes slid to stare at the back of his son's head. Koichi's eyes were dull, half-closed things. The seventeen year old wasn't to start in on any kind of lovey dovey father-son sharing time. However, the brunette gave a sigh and sat back against the car's seat. Anxiously, he pulled at the seatbelt and drew a breath.
"She's only the hottest girl in the school." Koichi told his father and then frowned when his father's sideglance returned to him.
"So, she's kind of a big deal." Jiro mumbled, blinking with obvious confusion. He didn't get it, Koichi determined. A guy who married his high school sweetheart, the only girl he'd ever dated, wouldn't get it. His now wife and Koichi's mother had taken control of that relationship and manipulated him like a puppet ever since. Koichi didn't know if that's what love actually did to you or maybe his mother was a sadist. The second was highly believable in his mind.
"Right here is fine." Koichi pointed ahead at a corner and the Toyota came to slow stop, with Koichi opening the front passenger door just before.
"Are you sure you won't need a ride back?" Jiro turned backward as Koichi fetched a large case from the backseat.
"I'm fine. I'll call Mom." Koichi answered and set the case on the ground.
"You have everything?" The older man blinked at his son and Koichi gave a nod. "Koichi, give it to her good." He said with a nod back and raised his thumb up from a fist. Koichi stared for a moment and with a force smile, gave his father a thumb up in return. The brunette closed the back passenger door and got to the sidewalk, watching his father's Toyota putter away with an exhausted look. His shoulders fell as he blinked to the street he was about to walk down.
"Give it to her good." He mumbled. "Does he even know what he's saying half of the time?" His body turned and he gave his father's car one last look before setting off down the snow covered street. He carried the large case and blinked when he saw people in the street up ahead of him.
"Tachibana!" One girl said shivering, "It's cold and you're late." A few other people with cases got to him and they turned, now walking in a group up the road.
"Everybody ready?" Koichi asked and despite the pink cheeks and shivering, they nodded. Koichi lead the way and when they came to a house, the group meandered up the driveway. Each with a case and Koichi set his own large case down.
"Why are we doing this again? Couldn't you have bullied us for someone-" One of the guys spoke up as he pulled out a violin and bow.
"Someone more feeling?" Another guy asked as he pulled out his instrument. The two boys nodded at each other. "'Cause, Mochizuki's not going to appreciate this."
"She'll probably call the cops." One of the girls laughed and Koichi sighed.
"You band geeks don't get it." He told them as he revealed his acoustic guitar as the rest of the group stared at him. "She has to be embarrassed to feel something. She's the queen of tsunderes." Koichi grinned. "She's beyond explanation." He said as he took the gloves off of his hands and tuned the strings.
After a few moments of preparation, Koichi nodded and the group nodded back. "Try to avoid this why dontcha, Fuyumi?" He grinned. With a pick in hand and amplifier plugged in, he began to strum his guitar. After a bit guitar came Koichi shouting in something of a harmony with the music.
♫ Well people keep repeating, that you'll never fall in love. ♫ When everyone keeps retreating, but you can't seem to get enough.
Sounds from the other instruments of the group came into the picture while Koichi kept singing and strumming his guitar.
♫ Let my love open the door. Let my love open the door. ♫ Let my love open the door, to your heart.
When a light came on in the front of the house upstairs, Koichi blinked and turned around to nod his head. He turned back and slid his guitar around behind him. He held his hands in the air wide. "Happy Valentine's Day, Mochizuki!"
