just a tsun couple. don't mind me. emery wanted this.
"You know you suck at this, right?" A blonde eyebrow raised slowly but as his blue haired partner raised her head, Souta Koizumi's eyes darted away to the right. Waltzing should be easy for anybody who attended Ouran, they were conveniently taught in middle school how to. There was something elegant about formal dancing that he liked. Minimal contact but seemingly more compassionate than any kind of displays that went on the nightclubs downtown.
"Your foot keeps turning outward." Kikue announced and released him to take a step back. Turning on her heels and deciding to walk off her frustration, she took a few steps away. She was perfectly fine at waltzing. It was just that waltzing with Souta aggravated her. He purposely made mistakes just to test her patience.
"Whenever you're ready." He sang to her as if his voice were the school chimes. "Time is money and since I'm not made of either-" He groaned arrogantly.
"We've been at this for an hour." She shot him a glare with heat behind which made Souta avoid eye contact. "I wish you'd act like you felt something. You're not any fun to dance with." She sighed loudly. "I'd rather dance with a chair."
"Did I compliment you on your outfit or your hair?" Souta blinked at her. Kikue's eyebrows rose. "That usually makes you giddy and smiley." He snorted. "Your dress flatters your figure. Your hair is tied up adorably." He told her flat-toned as he held out his hand to her and wiggled his fingers to beckon her over to him.
"As if that would even work!" She yelled loudly. "Where'd you learn that trick? A guide to romance book you bought at a convenience store?" Kikue snorted, sucking a corner of her mouth inward. "I'm done for the day." She crossed her arms over her chest and looked to Souta with narrowed eyes as his hand dropped to his side. "Do you even know how to be romantic? I really wonder." Her eyes slid away.
"Tch!" A noise came from Souta and sooner than she expected, he was at her side, glaring at her profile. "You'd better be joking. I'm plenty romantic with you, stupid girl! More romantic than you deserve!" His jaw rolled as his teeth were grinding out frustration on each other.
"Hah!" Kikue leaned away with her arms crossed still. "We've never even kissed! How can you call that dating?" She looked thoroughly disgruntled, even more so than Souta for a minute before he decide to melt down.
"Oh ho!" He shouted in a haughty voice. "Now it becomes clear!" He mirrored her physically by crossing his arms over his chest. "It's not true love unless the guy's eye humping me every second of the day and we make out all the time in public and we take it to the maximum level so I can feel wanted because it's all about me!" He mimicked Kikue's voice. Raising clasped hands under his chin and walking around in a circle around her, he widened his eyes and batted his eyelashes. "I want chocolate and hearts and expensive perfume and cute day trips so we can be alone and he has to call me every night to talk until we fall asleep together on the phone." He continued until he was in front of her again. Dropping his hands to his side, he stared at her through narrowed eyes. "I hope that shed some light on how ridiculous you sound."
"You egotistical-" Kikue was raising clenched fists. Her cheeks red from a mix of embarrassment and frustration. Souta, meanwhile, waited with a smile. Arrogantly crossing his arms over his chest again, he was fully prepared for the barrage that would be unleashed on him. "I'm just not cute enough, right? Just say that then! You're always trying to fix me, like I'm not good enough for you!" Kikue yelled and Souta's eyes shot open. He went from smug and expectant to worried confusion within a heartbeat.
"Whaaaa? How did you- Since when did- Whaaa?" He raised an eyebrow and hands to her, the disorientation showing on his face completely.
"You just don't care, do you? I want some warmth! I want to be hugged and kissed! I want to be complimented but by someone who doesn't think it's a chore!" She yelled at him, raising her hands to her eyes.
"Kiku-" He choked. "Are you-" Was she crying? Souta's eyebrow twitched. "Oh, c'mon!" He yelled as she sobbed. "You know I-" What was the point in trying to justify it? He was snappy but she knew that. Maybe he was being more aggressive than usual, but usually she handled it just fine. She usually shot right back at him with a very carefree tone of voice, despite wearing a vindictive look on her face.
"I'm sorry, Kiku-" He sighed and with his arms open, walked toward her.
"No!" She pouted and pushed her palm into his face, holding him an arm's length away from her. "I don't want it now! It doesn't mean anything when I have to tell you to do it, stupid!" She glared at him, despite not being able to see much more than his eyes. With a heavy sigh, her vision turned away but she blinked and her arm relaxed when she felt Souta's fingers wrapping gently around her wrist. She turned her head, looking at him a bit perplexed as his lips puckered against her palm. The strength in her arm faltered and the young man took the opportunity remove her hand, lowering it and setting it on his shoulder.
"I wasn't going to comfort you because I had to, stupid." His eyes closed as one of his arms hooked her waist and pulled her to him. "All I do is abuse you and push you around, huh?" He whispered as they hugged. With his left cheek at her right cheek, he nuzzled her quietly until he gave a chuckle. "There's better ways of persuading me to be affectionate with you. For instance, a note professing undying love for me, or flowers..." He blinked. "Maybe you can skip the flowers." He stared, raising an eyebrow as he pulled away from her to look at her face.
"I shouldn't have to persuade you. You should want to, you idiot!" Kikue raised her hand and pinched at his cheek.
"Who said I didn't want to? I like teasing you! And you like fighting with me too!" He winced from the pain in his cheek and raised a hand to poke at her forehead. "If you want affection, don't you think you'd better start giving it too?" He asked despite the oddness in his pronunciation thanks to his cheek being pulled.
"Heh!" She laughed. "I'm plenty affectionate!" She said, brushing his poking hand away and letting go of his cheek. "I'll just give it to someone who wants and deserves it!" She about-faced and with her nose hoisted into the air like a snob, she flipped hair from her shoulders and began to march out of the ballroom.
"HEY! THAT'S NOT EVEN REMOTELY FUNNY!" Souta shouted. His body became stiff as a tantrum started to brew. He threw his body forward awkwardly and trotted to her side as she marched. "I won't forgive you if you cheat on me. You'd better know that right now. I'll suspend all my feelings for you and go back to hating your guts!" He threatened and after trying to stop her by stepping in front of her. She walked around him easily, only seeing him as a minor roadblock. He stood for a few minutes until a door closed on him loudly. He flinched as his eyes were on the floor. Looking as if he were searching for something as they slid around in confusion. He looked up again to the door after gathering his thoughts and more importantly, a plan of action.
He'd fought and chased down a majority of things in his life, but nothing he could recall at the moment was as important as going after his girlfriend. He got to the door and pulled it open. To his surprise, there she was, smiling happily at him with her hands meeting in a prayer position at her chin.
"So, you do care enough to chase me." She spoke sweetly and gave a small squeak of excitement.
"Shut up! I was just going to leave!" Souta said, pulling the door to close himself inside the ballroom once again.
"Oh? And you decided to leave through this one? There's several other doors." Kikue grinned as she grabbed the door to prevent it from closing. With a push on his end and her end, it became a battle of wills.
"I wanted to leave through this one." He told her with a snarl.
"Because you were going to chase me." Kikue added with a grin.
"Know-it-all." Souta frowned.
"Liar." She told him as her grin became a smaller smile. "Every time we fight, I think I want a present from now on." She looked away, raising her eyebrows and closing her eyes as she teased him.
"Oh, I'll give you something." Souta grumbled as a raised fist shook with frustration. Calmly, the fist broke and he outstretched his fingers to her. Cupping her chin in his palm and fingers touched her cheek, he closed the small space between them. His nose rested at hers, his forehead leaning against hers as he took a nervous breath. Kikue's eyes widened as she looked at her boyfriend's struggle from a deeply personal perspective. When she found herself focusing on the gradient of colors in his eyes, she closed her own as nervousness washed over her as well.
"I love you, you know." He said softly, a tone of voice Kikue had never been familiar with made it's way to her ears.
"I know." She answered with a melody despite frayed nerves.
"You know? What kind of answer is-" A much more familiar tone of voice from Souta made itself apparent and she felt him step away. "Tch! Now who's unromantic?" He spat the question and Kikue opened her eyes to see his furrowed eyebrow, a glare and a frown directed at her. "What a stupid girl! All my hard work and it's practically wasted! Testing me when you already know how I feel. I'm not some toy to be played around with." His hands were at his hips as he complained, but his eyes weren't on her. They were focusing somewhere to his right. She didn't like that much. If he was going to complain, he could at least make eye contact.
"Hahhh." Kikue gave a heavy sigh as her body relaxed. Who could love such a perfectionist? Of course, she did. Her hands reached as she took a step forward. Her arms slid through his and she leaned against him. She felt him squirm a bit from shock as her arms wrapped tightly at first but then loosened. "Of course, I love you, my precious Chibizumi." She smiled as she nuzzled his cheek with her nose. His hands were at her shoulders and she leaned backward as his eyes inspected her. "You think I'm lying?" She asked with a brow raised and a frown.
"When you say it like that, I question your sincerity, darling." With his elbows at her shoulders and his hands just dangling, his tone was flat despite the sweet name.
"Fine!" Kikue shouted and retrieved her arms from him. "I'll just-" She decided to retreat but Souta's arms gathered her from the neck up. Hands lost themselves in hair that usually draped down her back from a ponytail while she was brought forward. He forced her present her face to him and caught her in a deeply connecting stare. There was no moment of hesitation, just premeditated movement that could be akin to sexual assault in some countries if it wasn't justified by both parties.
But, Kikue definitely felt justified and even warm along with a tingle at her finger tips as her arms wrapped around him. She felt as if she were floating as she was tethered to him by the lips. After a few moments, he pulled away prematurely and gasping for air. Kikue's eyes opened and stared at him as he coughed.
"What is it?" She blinked.
"You're killing me!" He looked to be in pain as he was baring his teeth and tears came to his eyes. She blinked again and noticed the rather firm and somewhat suffocating hug she was holding him in. Her fingers digging into his shoulders and instantly she released him and stepped back.
"Heh!" She gave a nervous laugh. "I was too excited."
"Like an Anaconda seeing a meal!" Souta coughed.
"Hey! I'll just try harder to control it next time!" Kikue pouted as he straightened himself and his clothes. "I'm sorry! Give me another chance!" She told him and took a step.
"You-You stay right there!" Souta ordered with a point. "I'm strong but not strong enough for two of those back to back." He told her as he loosened his tie. His hand flew to his hair and he nervously combed through it. Kikue blinked at him upon noticing his face.
"You're blushing~" She sang with a giggle.
"I am not." His hand swiped at one of his cheeks in hopes of rubbing the pink out of them. "Just c'mon so we can practice!" He shouted and waved his hand to beckon her further into the ballroom.
"You liked it. You liked kissing me, didn't you?" She smiled knowingly as she kept her distance while teasing him. Clasping her hands behind her back, she gave him a smart glance.
"I wish you'd focus that much attention on practicing." He snorted. "Don't try to repeatedly make it about me. You were the one who practically begged me for it." Souta told her as they took up their waltz positions.
"Begged you for it? Ha! I was prepared to leave!" Kikue announced as they both turned their heads in opposite directions.
"Too bad you're not prepared to shut up." Souta sighed and began counting out the waltz steps.
"Only if you beg me for it." Kikue gave a laugh to herself as the two began twirling about the ballroom floor.
