So sweet, so angelic. It was music to his ears, the most beautiful thing he’d ever hear in this world. The most beautiful thing he’d ever see in the world was the owner of that voice. Kyouhei cracked his eyes open slowly. He was tempted to not wake up. Just let that voice float around in his mind for eternity. Of course, opening his eyes was heaven—he was met with the sight of Aya, and that brightened his day. Giving a sleepy smile, he yawned, stretched in the grass, and slowly sat up. Kyouhei placed a hand behind him to prop himself up, the smooth grass tickling his palms and the spaces between his fingers. “You slept an awful long time,” Aya teased, breeze rustling her hair. “I was afraid I wasn’t going to wake up. You know, we’re late for our wedding. You said we’d only stay out here for a little while.” “Wasn’t our nap only for a little while?” Kyouhei wondered, the most innocent look anyone his age could produce appearing on his face. Aya giggled, rolling her eyes. She was just as laidback as he was about this, but he could tell there was just a bit of an edge to her. Were they really that late for their wedding? “We ended up taking a nap in this beautiful field for an hour, Kyouhei-kun.” At that, Kyouhei had to blink in surprise. An hour? Seriously? He sat up straighter, glancing around the field they had chosen to take a rest in. It was on the side of the road, an old, small village was off in the distance. The Italian sun beat down on them. It was spring, the weather was nice—not too warm. But, of course, the sun did wonders at making one tired once it was soaked into your skin. So warm and relaxing, loosening your muscles until you felt like a lazy cat that just had to sprawl out and enjoy it; soak it in. That was exactly what Kyouhei had had in mind when he had dragged Aya out here in her simple white lacy dress, and his simple dress shirt with a black tie, and black slacks. Nothing too fancy, wedding or not. They were supposed to tour the Italian countryside afterward—neither of them wanted anything extravagant. That was why they had slipped out a little bit before their wedding, to get some time to relax in before their families tried to go crazy on them (there was no doubt in either of their minds that their families would try to go to the extravagant way, no matter their protests, just because they could). “Well, better arriving fashionably late then never arriving at all. Or arriving too early. Who would ever want to arrive too early and be so boring. It’s much more interesting this way.” Kyouhei gave a firm nod, as if that should settle all the doubts in the world that Aya had. Pushing himself to his feet, Kyouhei brushed any stray grass off his pants, reaching a hand out to assist Aya in standing. “Don’t worry. We have twenty minutes. We can get back in time. Here—I’ll prove it.” With that, Kyouhei leaned down, sweeping Aya into his arms bridal-style. “Ah! K-Kyouhei-kun! We aren’t married yet!” She squealed in surprise, a fit of giggles escaping her as she threw her arms around his neck. She kissed his temple as he carried her off toward the road. They had chosen to rest under the shade of a very large tree—the only one out in the field—just a couple of feet from the road itself. Once they did reach the road, Aya was safely put back down on her feet. She laced her arm through Kyouhei’s smiling up at him brightly. “Will you carry me like that down the aisle after we seal our vows?” Kyouhei couldn’t help the grin that lit up his face. “Of course! Oh look—it’s a stray goat!” His attention, in typical short-attention-span-Kyouhei-style, was drawn away from Aya. It would always return to her, though. Letting go of her arm, he patted her shoulder for her to stay put, running across the empty street (how many cars drove by, anyway? It was more for tractors and stuff, with how far out and away from a city they were) toward a lone, brown-and-white patched goat. The goat was lumbering along slowly, his hooves clicking against the asphalt. Every time he took a step, Kyouhei couldn’t help but notice the goat seemed to flinch, trying to lift the weight off one of his hooves. “Kyouhei-kun! I think he’s hurt!” Aya called, cupping her hands around her mouth so her voice would reach him from where she was on the other side of the street. Of course, as he had neared, Kyouhei had already taken note of that. Frowning, Kyouhei slowed his approach toward the goat as it bleated, pausing in it’s walk. He swore the creature was glaring at him, it’s little beard coming from it’s chin making it look like the Italian Devil Goat of all goats. “H-Hi, Goat-kun.” The goat bleated. “You seem to be hurt, good sir.” It bleated again. Kyouhei crouched down, narrowing his eyes as he got a good look at the goat. He couldn’t tell what was wrong with the goat, but it almost look like it had cracked a hoof. While not always good with the best common logic, Kyouhei figured that it had been walking on the asphalt—which, even in the spring, could become very hot with the sun beating down on it—for too long of a time. Maybe he was lost. “Hmm…Goat-kun, I can help you,” Kyouhei said as he stroked his chin in thought. He lifted his gaze to stare at the goat levelly. Somewhere in the back of his mind he reminded himself that the goat still looked liken the Italian Devil Goat of all goats. Glancing over his shoulder, he waved to catch Aya’s attention. “Aya-chan! Do you think Goat-kun would like to come to our wedding?! He can be my...Best Animal!” Kyouhei watched as Aya looked both ways, despite the street not having any traffic thus far, and crossed it. “Well, I…I suppose that would be a wonderful honor for Goat-kun.” She answered as she neared. It was all Kyouhei needed. He jumped to his feet. “Excellent! Come, Goat-kun!” Taking a step forward, he reached out— —and Goat-kun darted off. Kyouhei blinked, stunned for a moment. “H-Hey! Goat-kun!” He called, darting off down the empty street after the goat. For an injured goat, the animal sure could move! “Kyouhei!” He heard Aya call frantically. “Our wedding!” Unfortunately, Kyouhei paid no mind to his wife-to-be. He had to help Goat-kun! Goat-kun must attend his wedding! He already had his best man, he needed his best animal, too! Soon, long legs caught up with short, stout animal legs, and Kyouhei jumped forward, tackling—yes, tackling—Goat-kun to the ground. “Gotcha!” “Kyouhei! Your clothes!” Aya shouted again. Wrestling with the goat for a moment, Kyouhei got a good hold on the animal before pushing himself to his feet, hoisting Goat-kun up with him, holding the animal in his arms. “My clothes are fine!” He called, giving a proud grin. His grin faltered for a moment as he took Aya’s facial expression in…then he glanced down, taking note that his clothes…well, to say the least—they were not fine. They were now covered in dirt and black asphalt stains. “Oops…” “Takumi Kyouhei!” Aya huffed, shaking her head in exasperation. Soon that frustration turned to laughter, and Kyouhei trotted back toward her—goat in arms—and when he neared her, they continued down the road back toward the village. “I’ve always wanted a goat at my wedding. Goat-kun, you’re my new best friend—oh wait, my second best friend. Sorry, you’re just no competition for Yoite-kun. Ne, Aya-chan, do you think we can find a random Italian hobo who stomps on grapes to make wine to come to our wedding too?” “Kyouhei-kun, we’ve already invited the entire village.” All because Kyouhei had a thing for being spontaneous. He gave a half frown, not completely deterred by this idea. “Oh, well. Maybe he’ll just show up of his own accord.” With that, he gave a shrug. Anything could happen, right? It was that sort of day! “Hey—what time is it?” Kyouhei suddenly asked, glancing down at Goat-kun in his arms. He couldn’t check his watch while holding the animal… Luckily Aya was there, and was reading his mind. She reached over, pulling up the sleeve of his shirt slightly to check. Her eyes widened, and Kyouhei blinked. “What is it? Aya-chan, what’s wrong?” “Kyouhei, we’re ten minutes late!” She said, jerking away from his arm to gasp in surprise. Her hands flew up to her face and she glanced around frantically. “What do we do, what do we do…” “D-don’t worry! It’s not like anybody is going to leave! We’ll be fine!” He assured her. And, just at that moment, there was the roaring of an engine on the road. Kyouhei couldn’t help but think, how peculiar that a car appear now. The horn on the truck blared down. “See! I said we’d be fine!” Kyouhei yelled over the screeching truck horn. “Oh, yes, we’ll be fine…” Aya noted, pointing ahead as the car slowed to a stop just in front of them, just as they slowed their walking to a stop. Kyouhei narrowed his eyes on the bright, blazing red truck. It was beat up, sort of rusting. An old worker’s truck, if Kyouhei could guess correctly. Like what would belong to the villagers. But what was sitting behind the wheel of the truck was what caught Kyouhei’s attention. Now, that wasn’t an Italian villager— “Hey, the truck’s being driven by a pirate.” He noted. “Dammit, Kyouhei!” Came a voice as the truck door was pushed—with very much force, mixed with frustration (the pirate probably couldn’t get it open)—open. “Do you not know the meaning of being punctual?!” Oh. Darn. Kyouhei sighed, jutting his bottom lip out in a pout. “Dangit, it’s just Yoite-kun. I can’t invite a pirate to my wedding.” He turned to Aya, his eyes alight with excitement. “Do you know how cool that’d be?! A pirate at my wedding!” “Takumi!” Oh snap, Yoite was using his last name. In a stern voice. Kyouhei’s eyes dimmed, and he turned his attention to Yoite, before glancing down at the goat with enough modesty to look a bit ashamed. He frowned. “You’re late for your wedding!…Wait, is that a goat?” “This is Goat-kun,” Aya said gently, taking over the situation. She could only imagine what would happen to Kyouhei if he were to answer. Yoite looked like the stern father of the situation. Like he had expected this to happen, but had hoped for his best friend’s sake it wouldn’t. “He’s hurt. And he’s coming to our wedding.” “He’s my best animal!” Kyouhei piped up, earning a one-eyed glare from Yoite. “A-and you’re my best man…” Trailing off, Kyouhei zipped his lips. Seemed like he shouldn’t talk. “You’re bringing that to the wedding?” “Of course! Why wouldn’t we?” Aya wondered, blinking innocently and sweetly. Trying to plead a case. “Kyouhei-kun has always wanted a goat at his wedding. Who better than Goat-kun?” Yoite looked like he wanted to explode, but something stopped him. All he did was sigh in frustration, jabbing a thumb toward the truck. “Get in. Put the goat—” “Goat-kun.” “Yes. In the back of the truck.” With that, he moved back to the driver’s side to get behind the wheel. Kyouhei was quick to take up his orders, moving toward the back of the truck to stick Goat-kun in its bed carefully, then open the passenger’s side door and help Aya inside to the middle seat, jumping in. “Such an antique truck,” Aya noted as Yoite gunned the engine, turning the truck carefully around on the expansive—still empty—road. “Yoite-kun, where did you get such a truck?” “I—uh…borrowed it.” Kyouhei glanced at him, narrowing his eyes before grinning. “You stole it.” He was yakuza. But, at least he was honorable and would return it. “I did not!” Yoite blurted. His blurting was reflected in his body, he jerked in surprise—or something—at the accusation, making the car itself jerk as he pressed some sort of pedal. Aya squeaked in surprise, but Kyouhei was quick to grab her and make sure she didn’t go flying foward. “Sure, sure~” He tsked at his friend. “Ne, Yoite-kun…do you know how to drive?” “…” Aya and Kyouhei exchanged a glance, before settling back into their seats. They didn’t bother speaking again for the rest of the drive, afraid to surge up some sort of emotion from Yoite and cause him to make the car all jerky again. Luckily for all of them (Goat-kun included), they made it safely to the chapel at which the wedding was to take place. Yoite jumped out of the truck first, Kyouhei and Aya following. Kyouhei snatched Aya’s hands, leaning forward to give her a kiss on the forehead. Tugging her along as he jogged toward the chapel. Yoite was about to follow, but Kyouhei shouted over his shoulder. “Grab Goat-kun! I need my best man and animal!” As he ran off, he heard Yoite grumble something under his breath. Something not so polite, but he let it slip this time. When the chapel doors opened—Kyouhei and Aya leading, followed by Yoite and Goat-kun—cheering erupted all around. “See,” he said, nudging Aya in the side. “I said fashionably late was cool.” That got a smile out of Aya, who also rolled her eyes good-naturedly as they head down the aisle. “Aya!” The shout got Aya to pull her eyes—rather reluctantly, might she add, because the sun and the adventure they had just had had done nothing to Kyouhei’s dashing looks—away from her fiance. “Emi-chan!” “I knew Yoite would find you—I mean…not that I ever really trusted you, Pirate.” She shot Yoite a glare, who shot one right back before taking his spot off to the side of the altar, setting Goat-kun down next to him and wrinkling his nose. Where was his cat at? At least he’d be better behaved. Emi gave Aya a quick hug, fixing any mussed strands of pink hair that had managed to fall loose. “I still say you should have gone and got a flowy, princess like white dress. You deserve it.” Aya could only shrug, shooting Kyouhei a glance and a small smile. “I don’t need anything special when I have him.” That statement got a snort from Emi as she placed her hands on her hips. “Bah! Who needs a special guy!” Aya smiled and gave a giggle, patting Emi’s arm. “Oh, we all know who does,” she said with a wink, following Kyouhei up to the alter to stand in front of the priest. Emi blinked a couple of times before sputtering, “Wh-what’s that supposed to me?!” Her eyes went over to land on Yoite briefly before she muttered a curse under her breath, letting out an exasperated sigh as she took her place off to the side. After the bride and groom had arrived (however late they ended up being) everything went smoothly from there. Vows were said, rings exchanged, “I Do’s” spoken. The most important part came when the priest gave Kyouhei permission to kiss the bride. Unable to help it, he placed a hand behind Aya’s neck, and on the small of her back, swooping her down and planting a kiss on her lips. Those in the chapel gasped. Goat-kun bleated. And Yoite sighed from his spot. “Your parents are watching.” “No shame in a church,” Emi piped up, shaking her head. Yoite shot her a look. “Who are you to speak, Gorilla?” That got an argument flaring up, and Kyouhei broke the kiss, rolling his eyes. Aya smiled at their friend’s behavior, which soon turned into laughter as Kyouhei scooped her up in his arms again—walking her down the aisle just as he had promised… “Kyou-kun,” a voice trailed into his mind. Sweet, smooth; melodic. The most beautiful and angelic voice to ever touch his ears. “Kyouuu-kuuuun.” It repeated, pulling Kyouhei back to consciousness. He didn’t want to leave this wonderful place. It was filled with happiness, dreams and fantasies, and her beautiful smile and pink hair. But as he soon awoke, Kyouhei realized that real life was just as good. His eyes cracked open to be met with a soft face, with a sweet smile and pink hair draping over a dainty girl’s shoulders. Aya. Yes, real life was just as good as the dreams, and fun too. At least here, Aya was substantial. He could touch her and hug her, kiss her and run his fingers through her soft hair all he wanted. “What were you dreaming about with such a cute, silly grin on your face, Kyou-kun?” Aya chirped, seeing that Kyouhei had reached full consciousness. Kyouhei grinned. He usually wasn’t coy, but as he sat up, he wanted to keep this little dream a secret all to himself. “Oh, nothing.” Was his reply as he placed a peck on her lips. “Nothing that you soon won’t get to see for yourself, anyway.” He murmured more quietly, a bit to himself. He was met with a curious gaze from Aya, and his grin widened. Yes, that dream was going to come true. “Aya-chan, what if, someday, I asked you to marry me…?” He asked aloud, watching as Aya blinked. Then blinked again. In fact, she blinked a couple of times before a blush crept slowly to her face. “W-what? K-Kyouhei-kun, what…what are you…?” He couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his lips, before he offered her a reassuring smile. “Take your time answering. I have forever. But Aya-chan, do you think we can buy a pet goat?”[/style] [STYLE=font:10px arial; font-weight: bold;]credit: template made by razzle of btn[/style] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width:291px, btable;] [/style] |
