Tsuneo heard the door slam open. He sighed sadly and adjusted his soft coat sleeve and turned around to see what he has been seeing for the past few weeks. The man often wondered if it was a good idea to introduce him to the family of one of his closest friends. In one hand the daughters get along splendidly. Not a day goes by where Ai doesn’t talk about her adventures with Miyuki, though Tsuneo does not doubt that it is Ai that drags the poor Tsukami daughter around. Yoite and Ringo on the other hand…well…Tsuneo has never before people who are so confrontational to each other.
Yoite would usually make some form of insensitive comment and get slugged by Ringo for it. Tsuneo would usually hear about it from the school but the two would be unable to break up the fight until both of them collapse from exhaustion always ending up in a tie. Tsuneo had to make sure not to voice his amazement in the fact that Yoite can go toe to toe with Ringo around Mariko. Then again some people in the family didn’t view Tsuneo’s training of Ringo since age five as…appropriate. But Ringo was rather stubborn and Tsuneo’s father believed it might help in the long run.
Tsuneo walked over and bent down to Ringo. The boy didn’t say anything. His exposed skin is half covered in bruises. Ringo looked away from Tsuneo. His father sighed as he patted Ringo on the head, the boy wincing in pain a little. Tsuneo started to guide Ringo over to the Shiro family’s living room and took out a first aid kit and started to get to work on Ringo’s wounds.
“So…why did you punch Yoite-san today?”
“Why do you assume I always punch him first?”
“Cause only Yoite can make you strike first despite what I have always taught you.” Ringo sighed and Tsuneo had to laugh for a moment making his son’s face turn red. It was very clear that that he took a lot more after his mother…granted his mother would’ve handled the situation much different than Ringo would…and might traumatize Yoite but that’s a different story.
“I just can’t let him get away with that…” Ringo said. Tsuneo looked over at his son, his mood now at an all time low. Tsuneo sat down next to Ringo and began placing ointment on him, Ringo wincing a little.
“Ringo, I understand where your coming from and it is a frustration that people like him often say hurtful things to others but force isn’t always going to be the way to go.” Tsuneo patted Ringo on the shoulder. Ringo looked away.
“But he won’t listen…”
“Well then you need to try and try again.” Tsuneo placed a few bandages on Ringo. “You can’t give up on people. Promise me that alright?” Ringo looked up at his father. He was most likely fathoming how this was his fault like most children. Ringo reluctantly nodded before lying back and staring up at the ceiling. Tsuneo stood up. “You’re a child, so enjoy the time you have as one alright? You can’t be the head if you rush things through.” Tsuneo started to walk out of the room. He looked back at Ringo, slowly falling asleep. He soon got a cellphone call. “Hello?”
“Is your son alright?”
“Don’t worry Kentaro, he’s fine. Anything new you got?”
“We arranged a meeting with the Tsukamis again at 12:45.” Tsuneo wanted to laugh but laughing during a business call would be unprofessional. “How’s our future leader doing?”
“Oh he got into another fist fight.”
“Really? And this isn’t dampening relationships between our groups how?”
“We…kinda see where these two are coming from.” Tsuneo laughed nervously. “By the way Kentaro…please don’t refer to Ringo as “future leader” from now on.”
“Why not sir?” Tsuneo focused more on Ringo than the person he was calling before finally responding.
“I might feel bad about contributing to the path he choose himself someday.” Tsuneo said. “Welp, see you tomorrow.” He closed the phone and placed away in his coat pocket. He then took a deep breathe. “Now…how to explain this to Mari without near pissing myself in fear.” Tsuneo said laughing nervously.
